1st Annual Puntledge River Paddle Festival

Last weekend we drove up north on Vancouver Island to the first Annual Puntledge River Paddle Festival organized by our great folks at the Vancouver Island Whitewater Paddling Society.

After our adventures in Campbell River we went westwards via Strathcona Park to Gold River. We truly entered a different part of the island. The mountains and lakes become truly spectacular. And I took the chance to paddle a the middle section of the Gold River…

Last week we went for another trip up north on the island. Last time we did that we discovered so many great thing to explore that we only made it to Campbell River. Later we were told that the true northern part of Vancouver Island only starts in Campbell River.

It is hot and dry on the island now. The snow has melted, the rain has gone and the rivers are dry. The Cowichan is as low as you can imagine it. On the Koksilah you can probably walk down the river bed with mostly dry feet. Kayaking season is in atumn and winter here. [...]
