Another weekend – another river… Anschi, Michi and I enjoyed the beautiful Mörtlbach near Salzburg. Of course we made some photos for your viewing pleasure ;) and if you want to paddle it > paddeln.at has a nice description of the river.

During the last weekend Salzburg was hit by heavy rainfalls that brought the rivers to really high levels… and suddenly waves appear where there is normally nothing … Curious? Read on to see the wave …

Last weekend we drove up north on Vancouver Island to the first Annual Puntledge River Paddle Festival organized by our great folks at the Vancouver Island Whitewater Paddling Society.

Armin borrowed me his SLR camera – the Canon EOS 300D and of course Babsi and I tested it a little bit. OK – the camera is really cool to handle and adjustable to every situtation (I really like the aperature and the timed mode) but it has one disadvantage: it’s to slow for sporty [...]

After our adventures in Campbell River we went westwards via Strathcona Park to Gold River. We truly entered a different part of the island. The mountains and lakes become truly spectacular. And I took the chance to paddle a the middle section of the Gold River…

Last week we went for another trip up north on the island. Last time we did that we discovered so many great thing to explore that we only made it to Campbell River. Later we were told that the true northern part of Vancouver Island only starts in Campbell River.

It is hot and dry on the island now. The snow has melted, the rain has gone and the rivers are dry. The Cowichan is as low as you can imagine it. On the Koksilah you can probably walk down the river bed with mostly dry feet. Kayaking season is in atumn and winter here. [...]
