After a vibrant discussion about version control systems in the last meeting we are taking that to the next level and will demo usage of Mercurial and Git and discuss more about it all. And if anyone has any further demos and discussion topics we are ready to roll.

Joel Splosky has a great intro to Mercurial for Subversion users: http://hginit.com/top/
Manfred, there is a networking event happening at the Tech Park on the same day/time (VIAFest):

Just in case you might think it could affect attendance.
Cheers,

We changed the date to the 28th now..
We had to quickly change venue upstairs to the Genologics boardroom were we had a great meeting.
12 people in the audience learned about the origins and basics of distributed version control systems from Manfred. That already sparked lots of questions and discussions, leaving Kelly a great audience for his presentation of Git, Grails and some Css3 magic.
Cameron then did a great job showing us that if even you are stuck in subversion land you can take advantage of many of the benefits of using Git.
And finally Rafael presented us the just launched alphasimple model driven prototyping platform and received a lot of interest and hopefully useful feedback.
Since the discussions around all the topics took longer than predicted we decided to move the Sonar demo to the next meeting and headed to the pub for more geek out and chat time…
Thanks for another great VIJUG meeting, Manfred! Will start working on the excellent feedback right away.
Cheers,
Rafael
Sorry I missed it … would have particularly liked to chat about Sonar, which I expect to be installing at work very soon. I’ll try to catch the next one
Lucky you. We moved the sonar demo to next time. Mark your calendar
