<p>Wow.. it is 2009 and it looks like it is going to be a interesting year in general as well as on the Java side of things. And on the VIJUG side we are starting with a great presentation about <a href="http://wicket.apache.org/">Apache Wicket</a> by a local. How cool is that!</p>

<p>Wicket is an excellent component based framework for developing web apps in Java. In this 2 hours presentation you will get a chance to write a couple of simple wickets applications, and look at some of the key features of wicket. The presentation is hands on so bring your laptop if you want to type and run code. Some of the key questions this presentation will answer are</p>
<ol>
<li>What is wicket?</li>
<li>What is a component based framework and how are component based<br />
frameworks different than action based frameworks.</li>
<li>Differences between Wicket and JSF</li>
<li>Some of the key features of wicket</li>
</ol>
<p>Doug will also be able to answer and further questions about Wicket.</p>
