Vietnamese side dish: Lemongrass Fried Tofu

I discovered this delicious dish in the Mekong delta in southern Vietnam while staying with Yen’s family. It is quite easy to make and a very nice side dish with rice and some vegetables.

What you need:

  • 2-3 stems of fresh lemongrass
  • 1 block of fried tofu
  • salt, sugar, vegetable seasoning, water

Step by Step:

  • wash the lemongrass and slice very thinly so you end up with lots of rings
  • cut the block of fried tofu in medium sized flat peices
  • heat up tofu in wok with some water
  • add salt, sugar, vegetable seasoning – this is a bit up to you – if somebody in Vietnam serves this to you it will have MSG in it ;-((
  • add lemongrass
  • fry until lemongrass start to become golden brown on thinner pieces
  • Voila!
